WORKSHOP: How deepfakes are changing evidence

In this highly interactive and engaging session, we will see how a claims handler could be taken in by a fraudster using deepfake technology, and why insurers and assistance companies need to be preparing their staff for the latest techniques that customers are using to attempt to defraud travel insurance companies. There will be an opportunity for the audience to try and spot the red flags during the call – how good is your fraud awareness?!

SESSION: Consumers’ wants, needs and outcomes

With a panel of experts, we will take the time to really look at what travellers understand about the travel insurance industry, and the policies they are buying. We will find answers to the eternal questions of what the most popular distribution channels are right now, and why customers are buying the policies they are. By examining the sales process, we will gain insights into the opportunities the industry has to improve the process, clarify the information being given to customers, and engage more with them to ensure that customer expectations are realistic and in line with the premium they are paying.

Session moderated by Ian Cameron, Editor-In-Chief, ITIJ.

SESSION: Constructing insurance policies

What are the pillars on which travel insurance is built? Our panellists will take time to examine travel insurance at a molecular level – policy wording and underwriting – and ask how fit for purpose current policies really are. While ‘hyper-personalisation’ is a buzzword, is this a reality or a pipe dream for travel insurers on a tight budget? The panel will consider whether a return to common pool insurance risk is possible, as well as looking at new regulations, and risk management strategies.

Session moderated by Mandy Langfield, Director of Publishing, ITIJ.

SESSION: Examining the claims process (interactive)

During this session, we will seek to highlight the assistance company’s role as the middleman while the customer waits for claim to be approved. What happens when it is being considered, and then declined? Where are assistance companies’ strengths and weaknesses during difficult and potentially emotional moments for clients? We will consider how new solutions on the market are using technology to make the claims process seamless for customers, and how traditional insurers can balance the implementation of new technology with more traditional claims channels.

Session moderated by Ian Cameron, Editor-In-Chief, ITIJ.

Speakers:

PAVILION, CHARLOTTE

Networking break and exhibition

Use the final break of the conference to enjoy a refreshment and connect with fellow attendees and exhibitors.

SESSION: Insurance customer outcomes

While it can be easy to highlight cases where customers are unhappy with the outcomes of their travel insurance claims, it is important to balance this with an understanding of the market as a whole, and the proportion of customers that have bad experiences with their insurer. With input from regulators and the ombudsman, we will find out where the industry is falling short, and point out where it is doing a great job in protecting customers, their health, and their investment in their holidays.

Session moderated by Ian Cameron, Editor-In-Chief, ITIJ.
