Leading the insurtech revolution at ITIC UK

29th April 2019

Innovations in digital technology are changing the way we live and work at an ever-increasing pace. Now is the time for the travel insurance sector to embrace this digital transformation or be overtaken by those who do. That’s where ITIC UK comes in; we have added an afternoon of tech innovation sessions to the agenda to ensure attendees get real insights into the developments technology is bringing to our sector. These sessions will be led by people who are bringing game-changing solutions to our marketplace.

First up, ‘Tech as a cost containment tool’. It’s great to have new customer-facing apps and shiny new systems but what about the bottom line? We hear you!

Transfer Travel is reinventing the travel market, helping consumers get money back on unwanted pre-booked travel plans, while helping others travel the world for less. Their model offers travel insurance companies that have previously been writing off cancellation claims, the opportunity to mitigate losses in a new way. What other opportunities might travel insurers be missing out on that technological innovation could help with? Simon Powell, CEO and Founder, will be sharing his insights into other new avenues to consider.

Babylon Health’s mission is to make healthcare delivery affordable and accessible. They do this by combining the ever-growing power of AI with the best medical expertise of humans to provide access to treatment advice and face-to-face appointments with a doctor 24/7. From avoiding unnecessary emergency department visits, ensuring your clients receive the right care and how to best encourage customers to engage with telemedicine tools, Domen Gluhar will be giving attendees real usage trends and utilisation advice.

It is without question that tech innovations are changing market dynamics and the insurance industry is ripe for disruption. In the next part of our tech session, we’ll be looking at how to respond and stay ahead of the competition. Think customers, not competition and embrace the simplicity that good tech can provide!

Setoo stands for simplicity. In French, C’est tout means that’s it! This phrase symbolises the company’s approach to transform complex insurance processes into simple protections. Ashley Abdelmoula of Setoo will be sharing how tech platforms can be developed to make an excellent customer experience so that the insurer can offer what the customer needs at the most opportune time.

These companies are joining us for the first ITIC Innovation Hub at ITIC UK in Southampton on the 9th May 2019 and are keen to show the UK travel market how they can make tech innovation work for your business.
