Loren Snow is an autistic adult with over ten years’ experience teaching parents of autistic children, autistic adults, and NHS staff, to understand autism.
They work for Bristol Autism Support as their lead trainer and as Autism Central’s Area Manager for Plymouth and Torbay. Within the NHS they work supporting autistic patients’ care in psychiatric hospitals and as Devon’s lead trainer for the new mandatory training on Autism and Learning Disability.
At the National Autistic Society they’ve been one of the experts with lived experience trainers for almost ten years supporting with everything from media to content, to delivery.
Anna has worked in the travel insurance industry for over 10 years and worked at one of the largest price comparison sites, MoneySuperMarket. There she was responsible for running the travel insurance business, managing products, partners, and trading. Since leaving MSM in 2018 Anna worked with Blink Parametric rolling out parametric products to the industry, and in 2021 Anna decided to setup A to Z Insurance running her own business, delivering customers affordable travel insurance to cover them while on holiday. During this time Anna has also become an active member of WITI (Women in Travel Insurance) and has worked extensively over the years promoting awareness of travel insurance and improving visibility of product coverage, appearing on BBC One News, speaking at industry events, writing articles for newspapers, lifestyle and industry publications.
Andrew has more than 15 years’ experience in the travel insurance industry. He started with International Medical Group (IMG), focusing on international private medical and travel insurance delivered to global partners, and the past seven and a half years with Allianz Partners UK playing a leading role in the significant growth of Allianz’s travel portfolio.
Andrew’s current role as Head of Travel Insurance for Allianz Partners UK means he has responsibility for all UK travel partnerships covering travel providers, travel agents, insurance brokers and financial institutions. In this role Andrew is also responsible for accelerating the company’s growth ambitions in travel and has been instrumental in securing recent new business wins with several large financial institutions, as well as other key travel partnerships.
This is Andrew’s second appearance at ITIC UK after joining the 2022 panel discussion on “Insurers response to changing demands” in Cardiff, and he looks forward to making many more travel industry connections at ITIC UK 2024 in Bournemouth.
After almost a decade in the NHS as a hospital physician and researcher, Simon began his work in international medicine for some of the world’s leading assistance companies. At first earning his spurs performing medical repatriations, he became known for his work in medical communications and then as a global medical director. His innovation has been particularly noted, especially his establishing of the UK’s airport Covid-19 testing programme during the pandemic. Simon has now taken his 20 years of global medical experience to his new venture which he founded: Chiron International; a global medical services company in which all doctors are elite-level physicians. Offering a range of services from part-time medical director programmes and medical consultancy, to occupational medicine and C suite services, Chiron International offers excellence based on deep experience.
Graeme Dean is Vice President, Global Insurance Solutions at Cover Genius, one of the leading insurtechs for embedded protection. In his role, Graeme is responsible for developing insurance solutions and products in 60+ countries. Prior to Cover Genius, Graeme worked for more than 15 years in numerous leadership roles in sales, underwriting, product development and strategy on a global scale. Graeme also is an advisor for numerous insurance startups.
Miriam Boote is a Director and board member at Designate, a top 50 brand and creative agency specialising in the insurance and travel sectors, primarily overseeing the award-winning strategy for their insurance clients. A huge advocate of connecting at depth with customers and wider cultural forces is what makes her tick. Her paper ‘How to build a brand. LV= The power of Love.’ was published in Marketing Textbook, Marketing Communications, Fill and Fill. She has a deep understanding of the insurance market and believes strongly in the power of British creativity and talent. Miriam spoke at the ICAN ‘Dive in Diversity’ event on behalf of Allianz and is also a mentor for the Creative Mentor Network.
Adam Hill is the Executive Director and Founder of Designate, a top 50 brand and creative agency specialising in the insurance and travel sectors. He started the agency just over 30 years ago with £300 and a second-hand Mac. A huge advocate of brand and creativity, Adam looks at the world in a slightly different way, which can ignite creative that really cuts through. A shrewd businessperson and entrepreneur, he has owned the Good Food Guide best restaurant in Wales, an art gallery, and has his own radio show. Adam has travelled widely, is a judge on the Charted Institute of Marketing Travel Marketing Awards, and a mentor with the Creative Mentor Network.
Dan has spent 30 years in the general insurance industry. He initially worked within the broking sector, and then for the last 17 years with a focus on travel insurance from 2006 to 2021 with Ageas, and since 2021 with Direct Line Group where he is the travel pricing and underwriting manager.
Anna Angell is an Associate Director at Shift, a consultancy specialising in leveraging behavioural science to help organisations better understand how their consumers think and behave.
In this role, Anna has worked with some of the world’s leading brands and organisations, including Diageo, ITV, Tesco, and McDonald’s across a wide variety of business challenges from understanding shopper behaviour to optimising marketing comms and innovation.
Anna holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, a Master’s Degree in Behaviour Change, and is trained in the design, implementation and evaluation of behaviour change interventions.
A self-proclaimed ‘boring’ insurance person, Darren joined the Staysure Group in January 2017 as its Chief Insurance Officer, responsible for the product development and insurer management for the Staysure Group’s brands – Staysure, Avanti, ROCK, Payingtoomuch, Wapp and Petsure. He was heavily involved in the acquisitions of the Avanti, ROCK & PayingTooMuch businesses and led the product ideation, design and build for the newly launched Wapp and Petsure brands. Darren was appointed Managing Director of the Group’s travel insurance price comparison business, PayingTooMuch in September 2022.
Prior to his role at Staysure Group, Darren worked for BGL Group in a number of senior insurance management positions across their portfolio of comparison and insurance brands such as Compare The Market, RAC, Marks & Spencer, Lloyds Bank, etc. Prior to BGL Darren was one of three people that set up and launched the Hagerty International MGA and broker.
Mark has spent over 30 years in the general insurance industry across numerous underwriter, broking and distribution roles. He began his career in Australia in the 80’s working for several insurers and brokers with a focus on small commercial and mid-sized corporate business. Having moved to the UK in the early 90’s Mark spent a number of years with General Accident (now AVIVA) working closely with a number of intermediaries to develop small commercial and consumer opportunities.
Since 2004 Mark has spent the majority of his time focused on the Travel Insurance market across a number of disciplines including underwriting, marketing, product and programme management roles and now heads up the Travel Insurance business for Taurus Insurance Services Limited.
In partnership with AXA, True Traveller is probably best known for covering adventure travellers and backpackers. Tim started working for Trailfinders in the 1980s, remaining in the tailor-made part of the travel industry until 2010, where he was Operations Director of TUI Travel Specialist Division, looking after the Austravel, Travelmood and Trips Worldwide brands. Tim still thinks of himself as a ‘travelman’ rather than a travel insurance person, but has the advantage of working at senior levels with tour operators and now insurance.
