We recently spoke with our very own Marc Banting, Chief Operating Officer at Voyageur Group, who will be moderating the day 2 ITIC MEA sessions in Abu Dhabi next week.
We haven’t seen you at the regional conferences before, what has changed?
With my new role as Chief Operating Officer for the Voyaguer Group, there is much to learn about all aspects of our business, so as part of this progression, I will be part of the moderating team for all conferences moving forward, alongside our ITIC Chairman Ian Cameron, and Publishing Director, Mandy Langfield.
What will be different between ITIC Global and the regional conferences?
Global is so big, everyone is there aren’t they? And the topics are global issues facing the industry to appeal to everyone. The regionals offer the perfect opportunity to get to grips with the issues that matter in the region.
Last year was your first moderating experience, how did you find it?
I was really fortunate to have a really great panel, and their presentations were on point. I had a bit of a tough crowd though! Very few questions were asked, so it was down to me to keep the conversation flowing, like a moderator. I really enjoyed it, and I am back for more.
What else is on the ITIC calendar?
It looks international! After Abu Dhabi, I will be back for a couple of weeks, then heading to Sydney for APAC. I will be in Australia for such a short amount of time, but it will be worth it, as some people I have known for many years are attending. Again, learning more about the APAC region will just fuel my yearning for knowledge.
Before we know it, ITIC Global will be upon us, which is our biggest-ever event, and we will all be meeting in Barcelona. The city is such a fantastic destination, and we have many things planned for the event. Although we have held the conference there before, it will be very different – it will be bigger and better!
Marc Banting is a seasoned travel industry professional with a remarkable 34-year career dedicated to the field. Starting as a holiday representative, Marc’s passion for travel and creative problem-solving has propelled him through various roles and responsibilities, earning him extensive knowledge and experience in the industry. Marc started his career at Voyageur as a Medical Repatriation Travel Consultant 23 years ago. His recent appointment as the Chief Operations Officer reflects his exceptional capabilities in overseeing and optimizing travel operations on a large scale.
